6+ Years of Market Insights to Bring Into Your Next Season of Business

This time of year always brings me to reflect on where we've been and where we are going. Through the years, we've had the privilege of supporting over 150 small business owners in very close proximity. We've become intimately familiar with the inner workings of these businesses, and the subtle nuances that impact their success (or impeded it - because let's be real, it hasn't all been daisies).
You've likely heard me say it before - while the services we provide are primarily ads management and lead generation, the consulting we do with our clients is so much more comprehensive.
We guide our clients through growth strategies, offer pivots, rebrands, shifts in capacity, team growth, messaging refinement... all backed by data AND an empathetic understanding of the business goals, but also the owner's life outside of work.
As I’ve been spending some time looking back through my notes from the past few years - to say we’ve learned a lot is an understatement.
And instead of keeping that insight to ourselves, I wanted to pay it forward.
This isn’t meant to be a pitch or a prediction about the future - just an honest snapshot of what we see working right now, the biggest mistakes to avoid based on what's not working, and a few reminders that feel especially relevant as we kick off this new year.
First Things First: Less is More.
Simpler strategies are working better than ever. The name of the game is refinement. After spending years working closely with the b2b coaching and high-ticket service space - this keeps coming up:
Clarity wins every time.
The businesses that are scaling right now are not:
Changing their strategy every other week
Constantly reinventing their funnel
Chasing the next shiny tactic
Instead, they’re:
Selling one core offer, through one core funnel and actually paying attention to their numbers
Getting hyper-specific about the problem they solve and who they solve it for
Repeating one launch strategy and refining it
Optimizing what’s already working instead of always starting over
This applies just as much to done-for-you service providers, agencies, and professional services as it does to those with more scalable business models.
If you are below 7-figures in annual revenue - you don’t need to reinvent the wheel or constantly create new offers. You need to do less and repeat yourself more.
It's only after mastering sales and fulfullment of one solution that they then begin to supplement with complimentary offers.
It's a pattern we see over and over again:
The businesses that feel the most “stuck” are often doing too much - not too little.
Constantly changing messaging, offers, platforms, and strategies creates noise, not momentum (and spreads your attention across too many places for any of them to get the focus each one merits).
The businesses gaining traction are the ones willing to:
Stick with a plan long enough to learn from the data
Optimize instead of abandoning
Build stability before chasing growth
Don't Be Fooled By Smoke & Mirrors
There's chatter about us entering a "trust recession" - and data is showing us that the way people are buying has fundamentally changed.
I don't think this is a trend. These platforms have changed, and so has the way people use them.
We keep hearing consumers talking about experiences that make them question the claims being made online (as they should - there's a lot of trash being sold in the current marketplace, as much as I hate to say it). But to reiterate my previous point, there is no quick fix or cookie-cutter solution that will solve your business overnight.
Each seemingly overnight success usually has a 10-year backstory.
So I encourage you to increase your own awareness around your objective as a business owner.
Listen to your clients and customers, listen to your community and audience - I promise they are telling you what they want/need if you're willing to dial in.
Audit your business model and make sure it still aligns with your goals. Many of us have adopted goals or beliefs that don't align with our actual needs, and we end up creating jobs for ourselves rather than building business assets that support our lives outside of work. Or we have clients grandfathered in who are keeping us busy and inadvertently preventing us from moving forward.
Be discerning about what marketing strategies actually make sense for your business model and goals. I've seen too many 1:1 service providers adopting strategies that work for scalable coaching programs when the reality is that they only need a handful of clients to be at capacity (and not 100 new leads per day joining their freebie funnel).
Be ruthless about anything that ultimately isn't in alignment anymore. I don't know about you, but I started my business to create more freedom and stability in my life - balanced with the fulfillment I receive from serving and supporting others.
If I've learned anything the hard way over the past 10 years in business, it's that you cannot pour from an empty cup. So may this be your friendly reminder to make sure your human needs are being met. And let's not overcomplicate this either: go outside, stretch your legs, drink a glass of water. It's the little things that make the biggest difference.
Google Search Is Underrated (Especially for Online Businesses)
Something we continue to see work really well (and something many service providers don’t even consider) is running Google Search Campaigns, even when the business isn’t local.
There’s a different level of intent when someone is actively searching for a solution versus scrolling on social media.
When paired correctly:
Google captures existing demand and drives high-intent traffic to your website or landing pages
Other channels (like Meta ads, email marketing, and organic content channels) help nurture leads and reinforce trust
When an effective Google Search Campaign is paired with a compelling offer in a niche market, we have clients seeing tremendous returns.
One agency we support has packages they sell in the $20-40k range. They are booking several sales calls per week with qualified leads for less than $1000/mo in ad spend. The ROAS is huge for them, even if they only book one new client per month (although they usually close 2-3).
It’s not about being everywhere. It’s about showing up at the right moment with the right solution. Increased visibility and discoverability on the front end, and then following up strategically to close the deal.
The elephant in the room: a lot of service providers are concerned right now around AI - but we are IRREPLACEABLE.
Here’s the honest truth: AI is an incredibly powerful technology that gives us timesaving tools and computing capacity. But AI can never replace your personal experience, your judgment, or the human connection you bring to your work.
People still value:
Trust
Nuance
Context
Collaboration
Lived experience
The opportunity isn’t to compete with AI - it’s to use it as leverage while doubling down on what only you can provide.
Don’t give up. And don’t ignore the tools that can support you either.
Both can be true.
It becomes more about the way you share insights through storytelling (and through the lens of your personal experience). And because of that, long form content is making a comeback. Your ability to communicate with authenticity will pay you back in dividends.
We are seeing a resurgence of blogging (like this, hi!) in addition to other forms of time-based media like podcasting or youtube.
Pro Tip: We are now writing/posting/creating for two audiences - there's the human reading the screen, and the AI reading the script. Understand this, and you're ahead of the game.
Final Thoughts
Most businesses don’t need more ideas - they need clarity.
What we see working right now is specificity above all else.
I know how easy it is to get caught up in the day-to-day of running your business. You’re working hard, seeing results, and staying focused on your mission. But sometimes, that same dedication can make it hard to see the bigger picture.
If you ever need a second set of eyes on your strategy, grab a spot on my calendar (no strings attached) and I'd be happy to offer an outside perspective so that you can have the clarity you need to keep building with confidence.

I still firmly believe all ships rise with the tide. Thank you for being part of our corner of the internet - we are so grateful to be doing this work and supporting the human on the other side of the screen. If you gained something from reading this, share it with someone else who needs to see it, too. Thanks!
